This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and protect personal information, and how you can exercise your privacy rights. It also explains our use of cookies and similar technologies. Personal information means information about an individual that allows that individual to be identified directly or indirectly.
We handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25. Reading this Policy or browsing our website does not, by itself, constitute consent to every use or disclosure described below. We obtain consent where required by law.

Depending on your interactions with us and the features you use, we collect the personal information necessary for the purposes explained in this Policy. This may include:
We collect personal information:
We use personal information for the following purposes:
If we wish to use your personal information for a new purpose, we will provide the information and obtain any additional consent required by law.
Where consent is required, we request it in clear language for specific purposes. When required, consent requests are presented separately from other information.
You may withdraw your consent to the use or disclosure of your personal information by contacting our Privacy Officer or using the available preference controls. Withdrawal applies to future activities and does not affect processing already lawfully completed. Certain information may still need to be retained or processed where permitted or required by law.
If you decline to provide information necessary to fulfill an order or provide a requested service, we may be unable to complete that transaction or provide that service. We will explain the relevant consequences. Declining optional advertising tracking does not prevent you from making a purchase.
You can unsubscribe from promotional emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails. You may still receive necessary messages concerning orders, accounts or service requests.
We disclose personal information when necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, with consent where required, or as otherwise permitted by law. Recipients may include:
Within our organization, access is limited to personnel who need the information to perform their duties, such as order fulfillment, customer service, accounting, technical support and privacy administration.
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies, such as pixels and local storage, may also be used to operate the Services, remember choices or understand interactions. These technologies may process personal information, including identifiers, IP addresses and browsing activity.
Depending on the features enabled on our store, these technologies may serve the following purposes:
Some cookies last only for your browsing session. Others remain until they expire or you delete them. Their duration depends on their purpose and provider.
Where required by law, optional technologies are used only after you consent. Functions used to identify you, locate you or profile your interests or behaviour are not activated by default where Québec law requires you to activate them yourself.
You can accept or refuse optional cookies and review or withdraw your choices through the website’s cookie consent and preference controls. Technologies necessary to provide a service you request may remain active where legally permitted.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect features such as your cart, account or checkout. Browser settings do not necessarily control every tracking technology, so please also use the website’s privacy controls.
Where available, you may also use our data-sharing opt-out page . This option supplements, and does not replace, consent choices required under applicable law.
Shopify processes personal information to provide the platform supporting our store. Information submitted through the Services is shared with Shopify and relevant service providers.
Where we use Shopify features involving personalized advertising or information from interactions with other merchants and Shopify, additional processing may occur, subject to applicable privacy requirements and choices. Shopify may act independently for certain processing activities described in its own privacy policy.
To learn more about Shopify’s practices and privacy choices, visit the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and the Shopify Privacy Portal. You may still contact our Privacy Officer about information handled by Genetik Sport.
Your personal information may be communicated, stored or processed outside Québec, including elsewhere in Canada and in other countries, through Shopify and other service providers. Information processed in another jurisdiction may be subject to that jurisdiction’s laws and lawful access by its authorities.
Before communicating personal information outside Québec or entrusting a provider outside Québec with handling it on our behalf, we carry out the privacy assessment and establish the contractual safeguards required by applicable law.
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including applicable accounting, tax, legal, warranty and dispute-resolution requirements. Closing an account does not necessarily require the immediate deletion of related transaction records.
Retention periods depend on the type of information, the purpose for which it is held and applicable legal requirements. You may contact our Privacy Officer for information about the retention period applicable to your information.
When the purposes have been fulfilled and retention is no longer required, we securely destroy the information or anonymize it where legally permitted and in accordance with applicable requirements.
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity, quantity, purpose and storage arrangements of the personal information we handle. No system or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.
If you have an account, protect your login credentials and contact us if you suspect unauthorized use. Please do not send payment card details or other sensitive information through ordinary email.
Subject to applicable conditions and exceptions, you may:
To exercise your rights, contact our Privacy Officer at phil@genetiksport.com. Please describe your request clearly. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity or a representative’s authority before providing access or acting on a request.
For requests governed by Québec law, we respond in writing to access or rectification requests with diligence and no later than 30 days after receipt. Where a request is refused, we explain the grounds and applicable recourse as required by law.
Additional rights may apply depending on your place of residence. We will process requests in accordance with the law applicable to your circumstances.
If we make a decision about you based exclusively on automated processing of personal information, we will notify you as required by law. Where Québec law applies, you may request information about the personal information used and the reasons and main factors behind the decision, request correction of the information, and present observations to a staff member able to review the decision.
The Services are intended for a general audience and are not directed at children under 14. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 14 without the consent of a parent or tutor, except where permitted by law. If you believe a child has provided information without the required consent, please contact our Privacy Officer.
Please direct privacy complaints to Philippe Bélanger using the contact information in Section 1. Describe the issue and provide a way for us to contact you. We will review the complaint, investigate as appropriate and communicate our response.
You may also contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec about your rights or applicable complaint and review procedures, or another competent privacy authority where applicable.
The Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review those policies before providing personal information.
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to our practices, Services or legal requirements. We will publish the updated Policy, revise the date above and provide notice of changes as required by law. Where a change requires new consent, we will obtain it before carrying out the affected activity.
